The Fourth of July is right around the corner! Â Check out these tips to create a simple centerpiece with a functional and festive look that works for your home and celebrations too!
The Fourth of July is always so fun and is definitely one of my favorite holidays. Â Partly because my birthday is July 2nd and our anniversary is July 5th…there’s always lots of fun celebrations already happening!
I think I also love holidays like this because they don’t have to be big or fancy. Â They don’t require redecorating an entire house and they definitely don’t need to cost a lot. Â In fact, just a few simple touches, added to your existing summer decor, is all you need! Â The red, white, and blue is so festive and stands on its own!
While patriotic tablescapes are so beautiful, in real life we are usually running around with disposable plates, hot dogs, kids everywhere, and not necessarily sitting down for a pretty dinner! Â If you’re in the same boat, hopefully this centerpiece helps you out too!
How to Create a Simple Patriotic Table Centerpiece
Elements for a Casual Patriotic Table Centerpiece:
- Lots of little flags
- Vases and jars (I love these vintage ones. Â And THESE are great dupes!)
- Tray or basket
- Cake stand
- Blue stripe napkins or HERE
- Vintage grain sack with blue stripe
- Assorted jars, dishes, flatware
Creating a Tray Vignette for a Patriotic Table Centerpiece
First of all, I started with a soft layer, using one of my vintage grain sacks. Â I love the touch of blue stripe for year-round use and it also works well for a red, white, and blue patriotic table runner too!
Secondly, I added this vintage crate from Dreamy White Lifestyle. Â If you don’t have a vintage crate, no worries! Â Even a simple wooden tray like THIS will look great! Â Take a look around your home and pull out any kind of basket or wooden tray!
The next thing I added was this wooden cake stand. Â It is my favorite because I love the mix of marble and wood, plus it is a budget-friendly piece with a high-end look!
Stands like this are great to use in table vignettes, since it is a kitchen/dining related item and adds height to a vignette. Â At the same time, it can hold more than food!
I added a small stack of dessert dishes and a jar with my favorite matte gold flatware. When I create table vignettes, I love to make them functional for everyday use but also pretty!  I added one of my blue stripe cloth napkins under the stack of dishes.  Just that little touch softens the whole look and gives it a casual, lived-in style.
Create a Patriotic Bouquet
Since I want to leave this centerpiece out for a couple of weeks PLUS, I wanted to make it really budget-friendly, I opted for fresh greenery from my yard rather than flowers. Â While the palm branches we have here in Florida work great with my coastal decor, you can take advantage of whatever is growing and blooming around your area!
I added 5 medium-size palm branches to a vintage European pickling jar. These jars are some of my favorite vases because they make even a few, FREE branches from my yard look special and pretty!  In my second jar, which is a little larger, I added 3 vintage American flags.  I found these 48 star flags on our family trip to Alaska…which was a fun thing since Alaska is the 49th state!
THIS pack of American flags on wooden sticks will be a perfect combination to add to a favorite vase or vintage vessel for your own patriotic bouquet!
Lastly, I added this smaller woven vase (a personal favorite for summer!) with a few more smaller palm branches. Â The combination of 3 jars/vases together make a great centerpiece!
Tip: Combine any 3 jars/vases for a centerpiece, making sure they are 3 different heights! Â This will give you a great look with lots of dimension and character.

Robyn, I love casual dining tablescapes. Love all of the wonderful elements you have for your table. The Coke bottles are cute on the table.
Love this! I’m all about patriotic decor in my home. I love the chandeliers and was curious, are they vintage? I recently purchased a vintage one at an auction and if your’s are, any suggestions or tips?
I love your table scape. Patriotic decor is one of my favorites. I love the chandeliers. Are they vintage? I recently bought a vintage one at an auction and trying to restore it. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
