Easy Mother’s Day Table Decor Inspiration and Gift Ideas
Planning Mother’s Day table decor for a celebration? Keep reading for some quick and easy ways to make your tablescape “just peachy” as you celebrate those special ladies and Moms this year!
If you’re going to work hard to create Mother’s Day table decor…and you’re the mother…it might as well be one that at least 2/3 of your children love. Right? And if the other 1/3 of your children happens to not like oranges, well, at least they are in the flowers and not on their plate. Clearly, I am writing from experience here. Haha!
Ready for a fruity tablescape? I had so much fun creating this Mother’s Day table decor. Spring and summer are the perfect opportunity to use this theme and color palette for any special occasion, such as a baby shower, bridal shower, ladies’ daytime gathering, tea party, brunch, birthday party, or any special day!
In fact, my oldest liked it SO much that she chose this for a graduation party theme that year too!
Even better? A bag of oranges and peaches goes a LONG way for Mother’s Day decoration ideas and is less expensive than the flowers. If it can get better than that…it’s just so simple. And what special moms don’t need a little simple, happy color scheme for Mother’s Day, after all? (Since you’re probably the special mom creating the beauty for the day!)
Let’s get started! (Disclaimer…I started having a lot of fun with this Mother’s Day table decor and went a little overboard! You could re-create any aspect of this for a lovely table on a much smaller scale too for any spring holiday!)
Easy Mother’s Day Table Decor Inspiration and Gift Ideas
How to Create a Simple Centerpiece for “Just Peachy” Mother’s Day Table Decor
I don’t know if you can really have Mother’s Day table decor without a floral centerpiece but I also wanted to mix it up a little for something different for these Mother’s Day table decoration ideas! The bright colors of peaches and grapefruit are so light and happy and they seem to fit the spring season so well.
Consequently, my search for Mother’s Day table decor landed me right in the middle of the produce aisle! Sometimes the best ideas come out of great inspiration in unexpected places, right?!
Since the produce section is right by the flowers at Trader Joe’s it made it super easy to assemble my entire Mother’s Day centerpiece right there in my cart!
Materials:
- Fresh eucalyptus or greenery (or this very realistic faux option!)
- Fresh flowers (baby’s breath optional) or these beautiful faux favorites
- Fresh peaches, grapefruit, and a variety oranges
- (Fresh peaches weren’t quite in season, so I used frozen peaches for my place setting cards.)
- Faux peach stems found here (mix them right in with your fresh or faux flowers!)
- Vintage white ironstone pieces from my collection
- Wicker vase (this is my new favorite!)
- Simple white pitcher
- Copper mugs: optional (I created a similar tablescape another time and used copper; it looks beautiful with the orange color scheme too!)
- Linen tablecloth: optional (depending on how formal you want to make the tablescape)
- Table runner: optional (great for a more casual style)
Then, I also incorporated my new favorite wicker vase for some spring/summer texture. I love the pretty shape too and it is a great size for a pretty centerpiece!
You can find some tips and ideas for creating pretty arrangements with grocery store flowers over on THIS POST.
Pro Tip: Leave some of the fruit whole and cut some pieces in half for a really fun look! It is an easy way to show more color, dimension, and texture too!
How to Create “Peachy” Place Settings for Mother’s Day Table Decor
I love using lots of woven texture for the spring and summer months with baskets, straw hats, wicker picnic baskets, jute rugs, and even jute placemats. To keep a simple look, I used my everyday white dishes for a cohesive dinnerware set and added a thrifted wicker trivet under each dessert plate for a touch of whimsy. However, I wanted something to really tie in my peach and fruit theme.
Unique Ideas for Mother’s Day Table Decor Place Cards
My oldest daughter, Payton, is so good at calligraphy. She agreed to help me out with some cute little place cards that say “just peachy”. After that, I used jute twine and a spring of fresh rosemary to tie the tags onto peach slices (I thought the fresh peaches would be a little bit better way, but the frozen ones ended up working great too!) and place on each little dessert stand.
To create an extra special custom table setting, add individual names on the place cards to welcome each guest to the table.
These place cards add a fun element for Mother’s Day brunch table decorations but were so super easy! A great way to get your own (if you don’t do calligraphy, is to get my free printable Mother’s Day cards for table decor that I made for you HERE!
Mother’s Day Table Decor Place Settings
The rest of my place settings for this Mother’s Day table decor consisted of things I already had at home with no additional cost, just another of the many different ways to create budget-friendly decor!
First, I started with round jute placemats. While you don’t have to use placemats for gorgeous tablescapes, I think they are a great idea to add another pretty layer to each place setting. Next, I added my everyday white dinner plates They have just a bit of patterned texture around the edge. Otherwise, these pretty dishes are very simple and I feel like they just go with everything!
Thirdly, I added a wicker paper plate holder to each Mother’s Day table decor place setting. If you want a super practical table, you could leave these off. However, I thought they just added a fun element!
The next layer are the salad plates, which are vintage white ironstone. I love the different shapes that are building at each Mother’s Day table decor place setting. It is one of the best ways to get an eclectic, unique look while still have a cohesive style.
Lastly, I added individual cupcake stands topped with sprigs of fresh rosemary, the peach slice, and the “just peachy” place card.
Then, my matte gold flatware adds an elegant touch to this fun and colorful Mother’s Day table setting at our dining table!
