Notes From the Nest

by | From the Nest

Happy New Year!  It sounds so cliche, but it really is hard to believe that the highly anticipated month of December is already over and we are into a new year!  I took a short break from my weekly round up email so we could focus on enjoying the holidays with family but I’m back!  We have so many fun things to share, projects we want to do, trips we want to take, and inspiring ideas that are swirling around.  However, I am also reminding myself in this New Year that it is okay to take alllll the things slowly.

It can be easy to look around at the many resolutions and the “you should….” comments surrounding us and feel overwhelmed and inadequate.  Just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should.  When it comes to our homes, I am more convinced than ever that savoring the moments and slowing down reap the most benefits and quality of life.

That being said, we’ve been having a lot of fun during this break!

I hope you enjoy the Notes From Our Nest this week!

Around Our Nest:

  • Christmas was amazing.  We had the best weekend with our kids.  One of our favorite surprises was gifting our kids with a family trip to NYC this spring where we will watch The Lion King on Broadway.  I might be even more excited than the kids!!!!  Hakuna Matata!
  • We had a wonderful week visiting my family in Indiana.  The kids played literally around the clock with their cousins and we all enjoyed a change of scenery at their gorgeous home and property!
  • All good things transition at some point, right?!  Back to school it is for the kids and I (I’m a teacher) but it was a smooth transition and we’ve been thankful for a free weekend to catch up!
  • Christmas is officially packed away, thanks to my awesome daughter.  She tackled the job in exchange for some car money…yep!  She turns 16 soon and is starting to car shop!
  • I haven’t finished my winter decor, but I am working on it and am already enjoying it so much.  Stay tuned this week because I’ll be starting to share my favorite cozy winter views around our Florida home!

Around the ‘Gram This Week:

  • Getting back into the swing of things has been exciting!  I have a lot more to share this coming week but it was fun to get started with some cozy winter decor inspiration and a look back at some favorite winter home decorating.
  • Over on THIS reel, I shared a few ideas to help you as you transition from Christmas to winter home decor.  Hint: it doesn’t have to feel like your home is bleak and boring when the Christmas decor comes down!
  • On THIS reel, I shared a look at the first space I decorated for winter.  I love this cozy sitting area in our music room.  With some quick and easy switches, reusing some decor, I switched it over to a wintery style that feels super cozy!

Around the Blog This Week:

  • The blog is going to be bursting with new content this coming week; I am so excited to share!  In the meantime, you can find some cozy winter decor pieces on this week’s Friday Favorites, found HERE!
  • Then, on this new blog post, I shared so many winter decorating finds.  You’ll be seeing a lot of these throughout our home during January and February!

Around the Storefront This Week:

I had great intentions of sharing favorites from the year in a special blog post.  However, it hasn’t happened…yet, anyway.  BUT, I did round up the top 10 sellers of 2023 from my storefront.  I love seeing my very favorites in this top ten list because it means you are also loving and enjoying some of the favorite decor pieces I am using in my home too!

Here are the top TEN sellers over on my storefront for 2023:

  1. These gorgeous Norfotlk pine artificial trees are some of my favorites!
  2. Christmas storage is so much easier with these beauties, now on sale!
  3. I love these storage solutions for all those winter clothes!
  4. Use this white Duck tape for the perfect label for all those Christmas boxes!
  5. Finally, I love this label maker so much my kids think I might use it on them!

You can check this list on my storefront.  I update it daily with favorite deals that I think you’ll love too!

Coming Up This Week Around the Nest:

As I said, January is going to be full of inspiration that I’ve been gathering and am currently working on in my own home.  Here are a few things coming up this week:

  1. Payton’s Sweet 16 Birthday Party! (Her birthday isn’t until the 21st, but she will be gone on a church youth retreat over her birthday weekend, so we are having a party early!)
  2. Tips and ideas to decorate a coffee table for winter
  3. Cozy ideas for a winter season bedroom retreat
  4. How to style a mantel for the winter months with non-Christmas decor
  5. Fresh new gallery wall going up in our family room!
